Finding the Area of a Triangle

Problem 72 Page 106 Measurement  In this problem we are given that the length of the base is 3 inches gotten from taking measurements.  To get the height we extend the base to the left represented by the dotted line.  We then draw a perpendicular line from the dotted line to the left tip of the triangle and it is measured and the height is found to be 1 inch.

                                                3 inches

The Area of a Triangle is found by using the following formula:

                                                                                                            A = 1/2bh

                                                                                                            A = ½(3)(1) = 1.5 inches squared.

You flip a coin 3 times.  What are all the possible outcomes of those three events?

There are 8 possibilities if we take order into consideration.

If you do not take order into consideration then HHT is the same as THH and HTT is the same as TTH.  In that case there would be just 6 outcomes of 2 sides times 3 tosses.
